Today Patrick and I focused a lot the set 2 list of sight words. He has improved reading recognition, but is still struggling with reading several words on the list including "their, there, were, what, or, if, words". He wanted to practice spelling each word on this list and showed difficulty and frustration with many of the words. We stopped after he showed high levels of frustration. Hopefully, repeated reading of the words will lead to a better understanding of how to spell the words. Next we read level F Tree Houses where Patrick reached his goal of fluent reading within 3 reads with less 2 mistakes! Lastly, we choral read the next chapter of his book.

Patrick definitely has better days than others. Today Patrick had a hard time focusing and using his best effort. He also seemed genuinely confused by many of the familiar words he has been working on throughout the year.
