It was such a pleasure to be back in the classroom with Patrick. He was seemed very focused so we able to get right to work!!! In the weeks since school let out, Patrick has not regressed in independent reading levels. He is currently at independent reading level E. I will be giving reading instruction at level F. We also reviewed the first two sets of sight words. He did well with most of the words showing some difficulty with the words...word, my and were. We played tic-tac-toe using word and were as our x's and o's. After that we played a game using word parts -an, -ap, -at, -ack, and -ash. Patrick did well with this. He seemed to enjoy winning the game. After that we preread several independent books for Patrick to take home. Patrick chose 5 books:) The books are either on his level or slightly below to build fluency and confidence in reading. As we read today, I noticed that Patrick is dropping word endings. I will focus on Patrick reading the entire word in our instruction. I was so thrilled to see Patrick motivated to read.
