During this session we discussed the rapid growth and eventual demise of the Spanish empire. Will learned about Charles V and Philip II, the benefits of arranged marriages during this era of history, the role of silver in the rise of the empire, the defeat of the Spanish Armada, conflicts with other nations in Europe, and the events that led to the fall of the Spanish empire (exile of Muslims & Jews, over taxing small middle class, inflation, etc).
