Lesson Outline
Patrick and I started with reading Level K Scruffy. Patrick read for almost an hour. After that Patrick built an 8 rung word ladder using -ast, -est, -ist & -ust. Patrick struggled more than usual with these stems. Lastly we worked on developing a new story. Patrick thought through topic ideas and discussed the story outline. I transcribed his details guiding him through the main story elements. Then Patrick used the pre writing list to begin writing. He needed a lot of coaching and guidance to get started, formulate sentences and spell words.

Patrick was less motivated today and needed a lot of encouragement. He really enjoyed chatting today and I had to redirect him several times. He definitely had a lot he wanted to talk about. I briefly talked with his mother today. She asked me how he is doing I told her great in reading but very low in writing. She said she is torn about what to do for next year.
