Will and I discussed the emergence of Laissez Faire, the philosophers whose ideas came to prominence during the Industrial Revolution, and the emergence of capitalism, socialism, and communism. Will read biographies of Jeremy Bentham, John Stuart Mill, and Karl Marx, and we discussed each person's philosophical ideas, and how they were used at the time, and altered and re- and misinterpreted by others over time. Will also read about Owen's Utopia, and the ideas of Malthus and Ricardo.
