Today we progressed from rote learning to reading finger numbers! Finding "middle C" takes practice and we're remembering that the black keys are in groups of two's and three's. When we find this pattern, finding "middle C" is a snap! We compared quarter notes and half notes (one beat long vs. two beats long). We clapped rhythms with both of these kinds of notes and then played those rhythms on the piano. Remembering finger numbers will take time as it's counterintuitive for the hands to be opposites of one another. Thumbs are number 1! She is eager to learn and such a sweet student!
