Lesson Outline
Today Becca and I began our session by completing a letter D activity. Becca identified the letter D and the sound D makes. In addition, we discussed words that begin with the letter D. We made a baby dinosaur coming out of a egg using construction paper. After assembling the baby dinosaur, Becca used foam stars, gems, pom poms, and stickers to decorate the outside of the egg shell. Then, I introduced a fun song to go along with the dinosaur craft. We hung the song and the baby dinosaur on Becca's wall. Becca and I completed a math worksheet on the number one. First, Becca traced her name with hand over hand assistance. Then, she colored, cut, and glued the number one in number form, word form, and a picture of a dice with one dot on it. I used manipulatives to show Becca the number one. Becca and I read the story "Pout-Pout Fish" and discussed the different sea creatures in the story. We discussed where fish live and what they need to survive. During snack, Becca watched a video from the Magic School Bus "Take a Dive", which is about the coral reef. She really enjoyed this! We are creating a book called "All About Me" that includes ten pages about Becca; her favorite color, her family, school, where she lives etc. Today we completed two of the pages in the book. Becca traced her name with assistance and colored a picture of what she looks like. Also, she traced the word "six" and colored a picture of a birthday cake. Becca wanted Noah to have one as well, so I put an "All About Me" book in her folder to take home to give to Noah. I thought that was very thoughtful of Becca to think of her brother! We had a very productive day today!
