Lesson Outline
Becca and I began our session by creating a book of words that end in -at. Becca cut out letters to create words for the pictures in the book, such as mat, rat, cat, bat, and hat. Becca identified the pictures and letters to create each word. Then, she glued the letters and pictures into the book. In addition, she colored each picture. Becca and I completed a lot of work on the letter H today. She identified the letter H upper and lowercase, the sound the letter H makes, and words that begin with H. Also, she used the starfall application to interact and complete the letter H. She completed a worksheet where she said the name of each picture beginning with the letter H, listen for the H sound, and colored the pictures. Then, she practiced tracing the letter H both upper and lowercase letters. Becca and I assembled an emergent reader for the "Letter H Book." This book identifies words that begin with the letter H and emphasizes the sound the letter makes. During science, Becca and I discussed animal habitats and where animals live. After, Becca completed a worksheet drawing lines (with hand over hand assistance) from the animal to the correct place that they live. Using flashcards, Becca and I practiced prepositional words, such as under, next to, behind, between, in front of, and more. She did a wonderful job with this! We finished our day with a counting activity and Becca completed a worksheet on the number three. We had a very productive day full of learning!
