Lesson Outline
Becca and I began our session by creating -an words. Becca cut out the letters to create the words and matched the -an words to each picture. She identified each picture then found the correct beginning letter for each. Then, she completed another worksheet where she joined each letter to the picture with the same beginning sound connecting the letter to the picture by drawing lines to each. After, Becca completed a cut and paste activity involving beginning sounds. She cut out the letters and glued the correct beginning sound to match the picture. Becca and I continued to practice letter formation for letters A and B both upper and lowercase letters. Becca used letter manipulatives to practice tracing the letter with her finger as well as repeating the direction out loud. After, a lot of practice with tracing with her pointer finger we then moved onto tracing the letters with a pencil. Becca needs a lot of help with tracing the letters so we practice tracing with hand over hand assistance. Becca and I watched an educational counting song on the iPad and reviewed counting to ten. In addition, she completed a cut and paste worksheet on the number 5. During music, Becca and I used instruments such as the tambourin, bells, morocco, and triangle. She enjoys playing these instruments and listening to the sound that each instrument makes. Becca seemed a little tired today and was not using her words to communicate as much as she usually does.
