Lesson Outline
I love Becca's new haircut! We began our session using a letter C manipulative in order for Becca to feel the formation of the letter with her pointer finger. She practiced doing this a few times and tracing the letter C in the air with her pointer finger. Then, we used the pencil to trace (hand over hand assistance) upper and lowercase C. Also, we reviewed the sound C makes and Becca told me that C stands for cat. I introduced Becca to our craft activity, which was a cat puppet. We looked up pictures of kitty cats and Becca decided to make her puppet orange. Becca colored the ears, paws, tail, nose, and eyes of the cat puppet. Then, with assistance Becca glued on the parts of the cat to a brown paper bag. It turned out so cute! Becca completed a worksheet practicing beginning sounds. She joined each letter on the worksheet to the picture with the same beginning sound by drawing lines with a pencil. Becca and I read the nursery rhyme "Humpty Dumpty." Then, she colored a picture of Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall. Becca was able to recall words from the nursery rhyme after listening to it a few times. During science, Becca watched an educational video from brainpopjr.com on the life cycle of frogs. Then, she completed a cut and paste activity putting pictures of the life cycle of a frog in the correct order. We discussed that frogs lay eggs, which hatch into tadpoles. The tadpoles grow legs and develop lungs turning into an adult frog. During counting, Becca reviewed counting to ten and completed a worksheet on tracing numbers 1-10. Becca asked to use the potty today to go poop and chose from the treasure chest. Yay Becca! She did a great job today! I am very proud of how well she is doing!
