Invertebrates -
We started our lesson with Samantha telling me what she had learned about Sweden, and then investigating the specifics of the Santa Lucia holiday. We then looked into what scientific achievements are associated with Sweden, and discovered that the most prestigious award for science, and contributions to society, originate in Sweden; the Nobel prizes. Samantha wanted to know if an actor had ever won the Nobel prize. We investigated and discovered that, for one, the award for literature was awarded to George Bernard Shaw, who also won an Oscar, and two Harold Pinter, who wrote and acted in many great movies. There may be more. We then used the second half of our class to finish our invertebrate project. Sam used some images she had found in the magazine on Monday, and pasted them in the correct phylum, until each group had at least two members. Homework: Samantha was told to study her lists, and be ready for a quiz on Thursday.
