Sam chose to continue a book series (Narnia) during our class, we borrowed Edmund and the White Witch from Miss Linda, her Wilson teacher. They had read the first story, and ours was the second. Sam started class by recapping the first story for me. Then, we predicted in writing before we started reading, then team-read through Edmund and the White Witch. At the end of class, when Sam was asked to complete the Active Reading Strategies (response to reading that always accompany a reading exercise) she was not interested in finishing, so has taken it home for homework. She mentioned feeling a lack of confidence because of dyslexia, but I have seen her produce great work and reminded her she is VERY bright and applying herself (including completing the work I assign) will take her to wherever she wants to be in life. Also for homework she will list her talents, goals and dreams.
