Lesson Outline
We used the textbook to explore the evolution of feudalism from the ruins of the Holy Roman Empire. Autonomous manors and fiefdoms were protected by knights and farmed by serfs.The role of noblewomen was not inconsiderable with Eleanor of Aquitaine playing a major role in the rule of France and that of England, courtesy of two successive marriages to French and English Kings.
