Lesson Outline
Phonics - go over sounds at the beginning and end of words…long vowel sound for /o/ and how each is spelled. Say the name of each picture and circle the correct word that has the long /o/ sound pp. 197-198. Then complete pp. 199-200…say the name of the picture and color the rhyming words in the box that rhyme with the name (long vowels a, e, u, i, and o.)
History - We have been discussing presidents and their responsibilities and I asked Analise what she would like to accomplish if she was president…she wanted people to be safe, so no guns to shoot people with, speed limits so people wouldn't have car wrecks, follow rules, and basically, treat others as you would like to be treated. We went online to see where the president and his family lives - White House - and what former presidents and first ladies looked like (Analise made lots of comments about the differences clothes, hairstyles, etc.) We also talked about the different monuments, museums, etc. found in Washington, D.C. Lastly, she wanted to look at pictures of the Dominican Republic….she was so excited - we actually found a picture of a resort that she said she and her family has visited.
