PBS Nova documentary: The great math mystery
Lesson Outline
It's been a while since we watched a documentary, and since Jared has worked so hard and so well this week, I thought it would be nice to finish it off with a documentary. PBS Nova's "The Great Math Mystery" is a riveting expose on our mathematical minds that not only presents the practical aspect of math (landing the Mars Curiosity rover, building skyscrapers, smashing elementary particles into each other) but also delves into philosophical questions: Is math an inherent part of nature, or does it exist only in our minds? I actually had to tell Jared to stand up and move around and get a glass of water halfway through, he was so engrossed in the material!

Lesson Comments
Jared did not talk for more than thirty minutes while watching this documentary. I had to check from time to time to see if he was awake! He was, throughout. I had to get him to move at some point, for I feared he would get DVT...
