We read The Hungry Caterpillar and discussed the story. We talked about the life cycle of a butterfly. Next, the girls counted out 5 circles to make caterpillars. Using glue, they attached the bodies together, drew the letter L for the legs and attached "googly" eyes. After that, we used sentence strips labeled with the days of the week to retell the food items. For example, Thursday 4 strawberries. The girls took turns drawing the correct number on each sentence strip. Finally, we talked about what happened in the story and what our favorite parts were.
