Lesson Outline
Gabriela and Laina sequenced events from "The Kissing Hand," using pictures from the story. The girls then practiced identifying their left and right hands. They placed lips on their hands that they traced yesterday. The lips signify the kiss that Chester the raccoon's mom gave him before he left for school. We then used sign language to say, "I love you." We read a poem called "The Kiss Goes On," and then sang it to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." The poem was glued to the back of their traced hands. We began looking at our five senses. We used pictures to identify each sense. The girls began a five senses booklet with a winter slant, "My Winter Senses." The first page involved the sense of sight. The girls used white tempera paint, on their pointer finger, to make snowflakes.
