Lesson Outline
Today Laina and Gabriela started with building their names with Duplos and counting the letters in their names. They then decorated their journals with stickers.
Then they used markers to draw stories in their journals about the lemonade stand they made and a bunny that Analise wanted.
We read our morning message and started a discussion on Juice. The girls talked about what fruits we could squeeze and which ones we needed a machine for. They then shared they would love to taste a smoothie. We talked about that next week's experiment will be juicing.
Altogether we talked about the letters in our names and began creating a word wall with names and pictures above the letters.
Laina and Gabriela then used hearts as counters with number cards and counted 1-1. They then began counting on and adding hearts together. They both can count 1-1 and add on own their own.
They also began writing numbers and Laina liked writing number 5 since she has 5 letters in her name. We then went into writing numbers with finger paint, starting at the top when we make our numbers. They learned a song to go with it(tune wheels on bus) We start at top when we make our letters, make our letters, make our letters, We start at top when we make our letters, we start at the top.
Their numbers then went up on the wall so they can remember what they look like and how to write them.
They then explored with play dough and created many different objects using sticks, puff balls and eyeballs. Laina created a lollipop named Mr. Tinkle.
Today we reread the story "Dinosaurs Go To School" and looked for our letters in the story and discussed our favorite parts of the story. They learned a butterfly song and did a dance to head shoulders knees and toes.
Both girls then explored books on their own using the magnify glasses to look for animals and letters.
Along with looking for and talking about letters and their sounds we also played a fun rhyming game where we rhymed each others names using bippity boppity boo pretend magical wands.
"Bippity Boppity Boo, an elephant sat on you, Bippity Boppity bee an elephant Sat on me, Bippity Boppity Taina an Elephant sat on Laina, Bippity Boppity Labriela an elephant sat on Gabriela. Both girls really enjoyed that game.
For computer time they wanted to watch The Magic School Bus and we watched part of the baking episode since it was their baking day at school. They discussed making cake!
Before lunch the girls created a gymnastic Barre with people out of Tinker Toys and were able to make it symmetrical and sturdy enough to stand on its own.
They then both shared their favorite parts of the day, Lainas:"the part of story where the dinosaurs hair looked like a hot dog and the rhyming game" Gabriela " the part of story where the dinosaur was on the playground and the rhyming game."
They both did an amazing job and are very attentive and sweet.
