Lesson Outline
On Friday, Analise read the Dolch sight words at the pre-primer, primer, and first grade levels. Today she read only those words that she did not know automatically on Friday. She used each word in an oral sentence. In her reading comprehension book, she read "Emma's Growing Flowers." Activities included sequencing, visualizing, and multiple choice comprehension questions. Analise also read "A Big Friend" in her book titled, "Mack." She completed work focusing on ending sounds, short vowel sounds, and using context to supply the correct word in a sentence. Analise came up with six different topics that she can choose from, in preparation for writing her own story. She also brainstormed descriptive words, adjectives, that she can use when writing. She suggested adjectives under the headings of *What does it look like? *What does it smell like? *What does it feel like? *What does it sound like? "What does it taste like? We took a look at the "long a" sound when an "e" is placed at the end of a word. She changed "short a" words, such as "cap," into a "long a" word, "cape."
