Lesson Topic
letter x/ letters are everywhere
Lesson Outline
Laina and Gabriela practiced their emergent writing and letter recognition by drawing fantastic pictures of the favorite things they did in school this week. They both said their favorite things were reading books.
We then practiced letter recognition a bit more by having a letter hunt through the school! We found so many letters and talked about how there are letters and words everywhere!
After snack, we walked over to the park for some gross motor development. They had so much fun swinging and pretending they were on a roller coaster. We read "Hello Ocean, Hola Mar" while at the park to strengthen their listening/understanding, speaking and relating skills.
After a fun time at the park, we came back and had a fire drill!! The girls did a great job using their listening ears and following directions.
Laina and Gabriela enjoyed painting their names which helped to encourage their fine motor control. They explored play dough to encourage their creativity and had a great time making up their own characters and making a story with the characters they had made.
They used coins to practice 1-1 correspondence by placing the number of coins on the appropriate number card.
We introduced the letter "X" and added words to the word wall.
The girls are loving our "Hello Chant" and learning to say hello in other languages. Today we learned 'Ciao' and 'Konnichiwa'.
Laina and Gabriela also practiced writing their numbers on the white boards.
We finished our morning by having them help me read "Outside a Zoo in the City" and "Superhero ABC'S".
