Rights & Responsibilities
Lesson Outline
Today we began with a review of the branches of government. We reviewed the tasks of each and who performs those roles. Next, we read Florida Studies Weekly educational packets about Rights and Responsibilities as well as Good Citizens. These packets walked us through the essentials of these topics in relation to children and their roles at home, school, and their interactions with other peers. To delve deeper into the subject, we watched a Brain Pop Jr. video on Rights and Responsibilities. This video also covered citizenship. Annie and Moby outlined that we have rights, which are freedoms that are protected by our parents and the government. At school, we have rights to learn and be safe. We contrasted that it is then our responsibility to enjoy these rights by following the rules, making good choices, and doing our best. We worked through the quizzes together and were challenged with new vocabulary words: property and collaborate.
