Leonardo da Vinci
Lesson Outline
This morning we began with a review of her newly learned Lesson 16 Latin Vocabulary. We went over the words and spelling several times. Next, we moved on to our book, Who Was Leonardo da Vinci by Roberta Edwards. We picked up where we left off on Monday and read about how Leonardo had sketches of large wings to help people with flight. It is unknown as to if he ever tried them. His maintained an interest in the human body and reportedly dissected over 30 bodies, illegally. He continued working with a new duke in Florence and developed a giant crossbow and a weapon attached to horses. Leonardo was not the only famous artist of his time. We read about other artists, Raphael and Michelangelo. Michelangelo and da Vinci did not get along. Baylie continued working on her flipbook and colored the illustration of the Mona Lisa painting. We discussed and made notes of things she will write about on the "Obstacles" page of her flipbook.
