Lesson Outline
Lesson 3 – What body parts enable movement, support, respiration, and circulation? - We learned about the Respiratory System. We breathe with lungs that are spongy organs that expand to fill with air. Air enters your body through a tube in your throat called the trachea. The trachea branches into two smaller tubes called bronchi where the bronchi enter the lungs they branch into many bronchioles. At the end of each bronchial is a tiny sack called the alveoli that inflates like a tiny balloon when you breathe. When you exhale air flows back out of the alveoli and out of the lungs. People breathe about 20 times per minute and each breath takes in about 1 L of air.
Asthma Attacks - We learned how an asthma attack affects the lungs. Smoke, air pollution, and allergies trigger asthma attacks. When an asthma attack begins a person’s bronchi become swollen. The swelling makes their airways smaller causing them to cough, wheeze, or feel like a weight is on their chest. Medication is needed to return a person’s airways to normal.
Assignment
