Session Date
Lesson Topic
breaking down glucose into usable energy
Lesson Outline
This afternoon we discussed the ways that glucose is broken into usable chemical energy in the form of ATP. We discussed how respiration takes place in two steps whereby the first step is called "glycolysis" and this takes place in the cytoplasm of the cell. The second step produces more ATP and takes place inside the mitochondria. We compared respiration and fermentation and identified ways that this process is used to produce foods such as cheese, yogurt and bread Homework is to read pages 80-81 and complete #'s 1-11. This is an important chapter review and we will discuss Bobby's findings during class on Friday.
