1:00 - 2:30; 90 min. -
Physics:
Entropy -
Will and I reviewed his test together, and discussed the flow of energy through a system. I then introduced the first and second laws of thermodynamics. The first reiterated that energy is conserved, and the second states that heat cannot flow from cold to hot. We watched a short film that shows how the high energy of molecules is absorbed by slower molecules in a mixture. We examined some energy flow examples, to illustrate that some heat escapes from a system each time it is converted, and that this disorder is entropy.
