Lesson Outline
This morning we began with spelling List 22. These words focus on al, au, and aw. She picked 10 words and then chose two of the four vocabulary words (sidewalk and lawyer). She looked up the definitions of these words in the glossary included in her text. She completed the activity in her spelling book on page 104 in which she sorted the words by vowel sounds. We continued reading from our Fables book by Arnold Lobel. We read The Camel Dances and The Crocodile in the Bedroom. After reading each, Morgan retold the story and answered a follow up question in writing. We looked at spelling and sentence structure. Morgan is doing a nice job with her recall and inferencing the moral of these fables. For the first story, Morgan added her inference writing to her book project that is in progress. She inferred the moral of the story quite accurately! Finally, we reviewed Morgan’s five Latin vocabulary words with the CD to practice pronunciation. Morgan began a journal entry to write about what she did over the weekend as we ran out of time. This afternoon, Morgan participated in an online Lindamood Bell session. She began with math. They practiced finding numbers on an imaginary number line and then worked on counting by 2s, 10s, and 5s. Additionally, she worked on mental math with subtracting in the 60s. They then worked on multiplication flashcards and enjoyed a game of multiplication war, too! Morgan practiced reading her sight word flashcards. Finally, they wrapped up their session by reading more of the Anne of Green Gables book. They discussed for comprehension and Morgan worked on sounding out tricky words and reading fluency.
