Lesson Outline
This morning we began with practice of the spelling list 22. Morgan wrote her words in her notebook, along with the vocabulary words and definitions. She then completed the activities on page 105 in which she used a spelling word bank to find rhyming words to complete the sentence and made connections about tools people use (for example: a baker (sauce) and a speechwriter (talk). She also explored using and spelling vocabulary words sidewalk and walkie-talkie. Next, for a grammar activity, Morgan completed a Valentine’s Day themed practice of using homophones there vs. their. We reviewed how they are used and Morgan filled in the sentences. To go with our literature study, Morgan made flash cards for some of the vocabulary from the fable, The Bad Kangaroo. We used the children’s dictionary to help us define doubt, booming, and resist. We read the portions of the story where the word was used and discussed the meaning in its context. Additionally, Morgan read her new Bible verse several times. Finally, we reviewed the 5 adverbs for Latin this week. We also reviewed the information about adverbs from her Latin textbook which talked about how adverbs modify verbs, telling us things like how and when.
