Lesson Outline
This morning Morgan began with practice of her Bible verse for this week, Mark 12:33. She then wrote her list 22 spelling words in alphabetical order in her notebook. We also practiced the vocabulary words and the meanings. In the spelling book, she completed vocabulary building activities that tasked her with finding the third word from the spelling word bank that goes with the two other items listed (painting, sketching, ______ (drawing). Another vocabulary building activity included interpretation of non-verbal communication. Morgan used a word bank to label how the people pictured were feeling.
Also, in the spelling book on pages 106 – 107, Morgan proofread a paragraph to find misspellings and errors with pronoun usage. She then wrote a response to this paragraph using two spelling words and a personal word. Morgan’s Latin lesson 15 focuses on adverbs. We practiced with her five flashcards of the words for this week. We reviewed verbs and brainstormed a list. We then studied adverbs further with a story booklet about a little girl named Addie. We see how adverbs are a part of Addie’s everyday life. We focused on the how and when that adverbs modify. Morgan read through the story and we found target adverbs. Morgan then read eight sentences and filled in the blank with the correct adverb from the word bank. We worked on a Valentine’s Day themed activity where we brainstormed a list of 10 nouns and 10 adjectives associated with Valentine’s Day. This was a little bit challenging for Morgan as she kept leaning towards verbs in her thoughts. We wrapped up our session with adding another vocabulary flashcard to our fables study. Morgan looked up dashed in the dictionary and wrote her card. I then pulled out the fable The Bad Kangaroo story and Morgan remembered how it was used in this fable!
