Lesson Outline
BIBLE: Macy listened to a story about David and Saul. We noted that the moral was that David made mistakes in his life and faced many challenges, but he never stopped serving G-d. Macy answered questions such as "Why did Saul want to kill David?" "Why did David refuse to kill Saul?" We watched a few short videos: "David and His Harp" "David and Saul" "Saul Becomes Jealous of David" MATH: We explored the calendar, using the month of February. Macy knew there were 7 days in a week and she stated them. She knew there were 12 months and she stated them. Macy completed page 55 of her workbook, which was a mixed review...the number 50...addition and subtraction word problems, which involved drawing a picture and writing an equation...the fraction "one half"...pennies...count by twos to twenty...fill in missing numbers---for example: --- --- 43 --- --- --- 47 --- --- 50 Macy also completed a "Fact Assessment." which included subtracting zero, subtracting one, differences of zero, sums to 16 LANGUAGE ARTS: Macy completed page 150 of her workbook, "Writing with Phonics." This involved reading sentences, tracing them, and then printing them on her own. She then worked on pages 157 and 158 of her workbook, "Letters and Sounds." Page 157 involved circling "special sounds" in words and then marking the vowel in that word either "short" or "long." The "special sounds" included sl, sn, ck, dr, fl, sh, th, cr, sp, mp, and dr. Page 158 involved working with short vowels, sk, cl, and tr. Macy wrote a short story titled "Our Flag." She had previously colored in a picture of a flag. We talked about the number of stars, the number of stripes, and the colors of the flag before Macy began writing.
