Lesson Outline
This morning Morgan practiced her list 25 spelling and vocabulary words on the wipe board. Later in our session, she took her spelling test. She correctly wrote all of her words with the exception of putting a capital letter at the beginning of library. In literature, we continued our study of fairy tales. We read, Dear Peter Rabbit, by Alma Flor Ada. This fun story involved letter writing between the first pig of the three little pigs, Peter Rabbit, Goldilocks, Little Red Riding Hood, the Big Bad Wolf, and Baby Bear (of Goldilocks and the Three Bears). These characters are all intertwined and end up celebrating Goldilocks’ birthday together (except for the wolf!). We made predictions, discussed the events and made connections to the original stories along the way. Additionally, we read a classic version of Snow White. We discussed the differences between this story and the Disney version. Morgan did a lot of the reading in both stories. We worked at decoding and fluency in her reading. In Latin, we listened to the proper pronunciations of the lessons 16 and 17 vocabulary words (Constellations) for review. We then listened to the lesson 18 vocabulary words, which focus on the verb to be. Morgan used her Latin workbook to write the meanings of each of the vocabulary words and determine if it is singular or plural. She worked on cursive writing in her workbook, practicing writing qua, que, qui, and quo. For grammar practice, she completed a variety of quick tasks including identifying syllables, parts of speech, matching vowel sounds, and sentence writing. We are still working on remembering a capital letter at the start of the sentence and punctuation at the end. This afternoon, Morgan participated in an online Lindamood Bell session. They began with math. Morgan envisioned an imaginary number line and found targeted numbers along that line including by 2s and performing subtraction. She practiced addition, subtraction, and multiplication flashcards. She also played Multiplication War with the cards. Next, they moved on to reading. Morgan practiced her targeted sight words. Finally, she continued reading her Anne of Green Gables chapter book.
