Katya and I read The Tempest, Act one, Scene one, together. We reviewed previous Shakespeare facts and the background of this play. We made use of the footnotes to better understand the dialogue and what was occurring. We watched this scene in the film for the last ten minutes of class, which clarified what we read and showed the creative leeway taken by the producer (Prospero is Prospera! (for example). The movie is from 2011 and is quite good -- it augments our reading well.
