FIELD LAB -
Chase continued her participation in the field lab by working with a mark recapture study of wild dolphins in Palm Beach. She experienced the citizen scientist program, which collects data aboard a local tour boat. The tour is a fund raising arm of the research program, and demonstrates the interface between research and the public. Chase assisted in greeting the guests, and making them comfortable on the boat. She shared her experience and helped describe the process of mark-recapture science. She also worked to find dolphins, and keep them in sight as the boat maneuvered to encounter the pod. She was in charge of keeping the written log, and making sure all data was collected during the two encounters.
