Lesson Topic
powers of ten, powers of 2, division word problems
Lesson Outline
I introduced Charlie to powers of 2 by asking him which he would rather have: a million dollars or one cent the first day of the month, doubling the amount each day of the day before. I demonstrated to him that he would have over ten million dollars on the 31st day of the month by starting with the penny. I then showed him two videos about the power of ten. The first showed him the relative sizes of stars and other large objects in the universe. The second video used increasing powers of 10 to increase the size of visual field shown. Charlie also used his problem solving ability to work division word problems. There was no assignment.
