Lesson Topic
History pre- Declaration and US Constitution
Lesson Outline
During our first session, we reviewed Sam's homework on the reading and corrected multiple choice questions on the first state constitutions and the Articles of Confederation. Sam then completed an in-class activity that required that she locate and then write on a chart specific textual portions of the Declaration that addressed certain identified disagreements the colonists had with England, such as taxation without representation, quartering soldiers, and the absence of a guaranty of trial by jury. She did very well with this exercise. During our second session, Sam took notes on the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and the compromises made during the Constitutional Convention. Sam evidenced a good understanding of a bicameral legislature and the constitutional system of electing members of both houses of Congress. For homework, I assigned as reading pages 78-83, and answering questions 1,3, and 4 on pg 85.
