Lesson Topic
Constitutional principles
Lesson Outline
We reviewed Sam's revised test responses which showed a much better understanding of the Constitutional Convention and the impacts of the Enlightenment. We then closely looked at the text of the Constitution and analyzed how the framers put in practice certain principles of government such as federalism, separation of powers, and checks and balances. Last, we reviewed Sam's homework that required her to study the sample ballot and to determine which issues and offices were federal, which were state and which were local and further to infer the difference between the process for amending the US constitution and the Florida Constitution as well as the difference in the two systems for appointing judges. We also discussed the social issues raised by the proposed amendments to the Florida Constitution. For homework, Sam is to complete the chapter assessment quiz on pages 99-100 in the text.
