As Sam is still working on her project on the Civil Rights Movement, we discussed a few questions on the assignment . I outlined what we will be covering in class until the break. Sam's project will be due tomorrow, and we will be having a quiz on the Bill of Rights on Monday. I again highlighted the areas in the textbook that will be the subject of Monday's quiz. During our afternoon session, we discussed the bicameral structure of Congress and how the Great Compromise reached at the
Constitutional Convention led to the creation of the bicameral legislature. We next analyzed the express and implied powers of Congress under Art I. Sam raised good questions regarding the contrasting views of the Democratic and Republican parties as they relate to the interpretation of Congress' powers to regulate.
