As Sam will be taking the final exam next week, this week we are reviewing all of material we covered in the course. Today, we started with a review of the Declaration of Independence, and the influence of John Locke. We examined the definition of natural law and the social contract and located where those ideas appeared in the Declaration. We then revisited the Articles of Confederation and outlined the weaknesses in the governmental plan. We traced the history of the US to the Constitutional Convention and reviewed the major compromises incorporated in the document. Sam took notes on the review but more importantly displayed a good working knowledge of much of the material. She was quite impressive today! For homework, I assigned as review reading pgs 86-97 which we will discuss tomorrow along with additional review material.
