Lesson Topic
Images formed by concave mirrors
Lesson Outline
Image formation from curved mirrors was the next step from images formed in plane mirrors. Using a diagram of a concave mirror, some of the factors important to image formation will be discussed. These will be the optical axis, center of thel mirror, the focal point and focal distance. A ray diagram will be used to depict the formation of a candle image when placed slightly greater than the focal length from the mirror. The image is upright and real. The term real image will be explained, and compared to the virtusl image we observed in a plane mirror. The image formed when the object is placed at the focal point and when placed between F and the lens will be diagramed. If possible, a concave mirror and candle will be used to demonstrate the images formed from the 3 locations. The image being virtual for the last 2 images
