Jason and I continued to work on using subtraction strategies to subtract within 100. We reviewed subtracting tens and ones on a hundreds chart, counting back or up on an open numbers line, breaking apart numbers into tens and ones, and using compensation before Jason answered questions from the unit review.
Jason read about maps and globes. He identified the differences and similarities. He identified the 7 continents and 5 oceans. He viewed a picture of the oldest globe and Leonardo Da Vinci's map.
Jason reviewed maps and globes. He completed Inquiry Journal pages 78-79 where he filled in the sentences about maps and globes and drew a map. He read "My Address" on pages 82-83 in the Inquiry Journal. We discussed addresses. He identified the following parts of an address on letters: name, street number, street name, city, state and zip code.
Jason completed a daily review answering questions on number patterns, counting coins, reading number words, and finding the missing parts of an equation. Then, he continued to answer questions from the unit review on using subtraction strategies to subtract within 100. Strategies included subtracting tens and ones on a hundreds chart, counting back or up on an open numbers line, breaking apart numbers into tens and ones, and using compensation. While working, Jason was encouraged to recognize the different ways to subtract 2-digit numbers and that certain strategies are more suitable to solve a problem than others.

We worked together on our batting skills.
We then reviewed how to run the bases.
We also talked about the various ways you can get somebody out.
Read a story he chooses and how it can be shown with puppets. Go to the drama room and use the puppets to tell the story. Decide which one would work for the characters and then reenact the story to show recall of the main idea and the details.
Jason worked on a daily review answering questions on even and odd numbers, base ten blocks, 2-digit addition and subtraction, and a 2-part word problem. Then, we started reviewing the recent unit on using subtraction strategies to subtract within 100.
