Jason began with the daily review answering questions on completing number bonds, finding the missing addend in an addition equation, reading number words, and counting coins. Again today, Jason struggled with sitting and focusing but did complete a portion of our lesson on solving addition and subtraction word problems. Jason read a couple of word problems and wrote equations to solve each problem.
Today we had an introduction to baseball.
We first learned all the bases and home plate.
We then worked on batting stance and hitting the ball.
We then put it all together.
We played some rhythms with the hand percussion instruments. We played the castanets along to some guitar chord progressions, and then played with the different sounds on the electric keyboard.
Jason completed his interactive calendar. He read and discussed his vocabulary and sight words. He checked on his plant seeds and made notations into his plant logbooks. He read and discussed plant parts.
Jason read the passage "Community Laws" on page 12 in the textbook. We discussed what laws are. He observed two pictures and identified what laws the children were following. We reviewed what a community is, and discussed what kinds of laws the US Constitution has, and how the laws in the pictures affect his life.
Jason and I read through our unit key terms: citizen, community, democracy, law, past, respect, responsibility, rights and voting. We reread the passage "What Are Rules?" on pages 8-9. We identified the main topic and some key details of the passage. He wrote one of the key details in a chart on page 10 in his workbook. He read the passage "Rules All Around" on page 10 in his textbook. He observed three pictures of students following rules: being fair, staying safe, getting along.
Jason was very energetic this morning and struggled to focus on his classwork. He did complete the daily review on writing time to the hour, 2-digit addition and subtraction, and a subtraction word problem. He also completed 10 addition within 18 math facts.

Jason completed his interactive calendar. He read his vocabulary words. He put his seed journal/logbooks together. He completed several activities about plants. He checked on the seeds that he planted on Friday and made notations as to their progress in his new logbooks.
Jason worked on a Leopard face mask today. We chose from a variety of different choices. He decided on the leopard and gave his reasoning. We printed the mask, and he used markers to make it look how he wanted. I assisted him in cutting it out.
