STEAM: Marble on Roller Coaster Track Challenge
Lesson Outline
At recess, Cam participated in the Eggsellent Egg Crate Challenge. His egg, named Eggie Van Halen, survived a 50 feet throw. Cam's design was successful and protected Eggie the egg. In art class, using the engineering design process: 1) ask, 2) imagine, 3) plan, 4) create, and 5) test, he created his roller coaster track and did five marble runs. The longest distance his marble traveled was 34 feet.

Alkanes
Lesson Outline
Review the definition and general formula for an alkane. Write the molecular and structural formula of the first three alkanes in the series. Define a saturated hydrocarbon in terms of hydrogens/carbon atom. From the structural formulas drawn indicate that each substance in the series differs by only a single CH2 and classify the series as a homologous series. Define and discuss an alkyl addition group, using the root of the alkane name.

STEAM: Eggsellent Egg Crate Challenge
Lesson Outline
I gave Cam an uncooked uncracked egg that he had to name. He named his egg Eggie Van Halen. His design challenge was to create an egg crate that will protect his egg from cracking once it is nestled securely inside its crate and dropped from various heights on the playground. He made a very secure crate out of yarn, shredded packing tissue, aluminum foil, and foil insulation for food. He dropped Eggie from an approximate height of 20 feet by throwing it into the air. Before we unveil Eggie to see if he is intact, Cam wants to do more drops as a group with Jackson and Remi
