co-dominance
Lesson Outline
Review terms involved in blood transfusions. Determine that the blood type is due to specific antigens located on the red blood cells, and that the antibodies are found within the plasma. From a chart, indicate the % of blood types found in the population. Discuss the antigen Rh factor which is a second blood typing antigen, and note the type as either Rh positive or Rh negative. Show genotype by using capital I and lower case I along with the antigen as a superscript. Example, type A allele would be I^a. State that type A and type B are co-dominant, and type O is recessive. Have Cam write the genotypes for each type, both homozygous and heterozygous.

Abstract Expressionism on Paper
Lesson Outline
Cam is painting on paper until his canvas roll arrives. Using two sheets of 18" x 24" drawing paper, Cam chose an analogous color scheme of greens and then added pops of orange for contrast. He mixed complementary colors orange and blue to create a neutral that worked well in his compositions. He wants to continue to explore his abstract expressionist painting. He is doing very well in this direction, and I support his artistic endeavors! Bravo, Cam!

multiple allele traits
Lesson Outline
Human blood types are a good example of multiple allele genetics. Introduced terms to be used in blood typing. Transfusion, donor, recipient, antigen, antibody, agglutination, blood cells and plasma. Discuss how early blood transfusions were not very successful, resulting ion clots and death. Define and discuss the discovery of carbohydrate antigens on red blood cells which led to modern blood typing. Determine the antigen and antibody composition of all 4 major types of blood.

The Reconstruction: Writing the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
Lesson Outline
Today we focused on Cam's term assignment, and he wrote the section of his narrative that led up to and included President Lincoln's assassination. Cam asked many questions regarding John Wilkes Booth, including how he escaped and was captured, and details about how Lincoln was cared for, to fill in details for his narrative and was engaged in the process. This allowed us to go into more detail and engage Cam in this important historical event. He is continuing with a very interesting and well-written project.
