Aiden used modeling clay to build syncline and anticline mountain folds. We observed and discussed how the youngest layers of rock are in the center of the syncline, and the oldest layers of rock are in the center of the anticline.
Aiden completed the Mountain Building quiz and we went over the correct answers. We watched a video on how to build a homemade seismograph and we gathered materials. He began the earthquakes lesson.
Aiden and I used modeling clay to model synclines and anticlines. We read about faults: strike-slip faults, normal faults and reverse faults. We viewed photos of these faults in the western USA.
Aiden and I viewed a model of deformation: synclines and anticlines. We drew a model of synclines and anticlines, identifying why the center of a syncline is the youngest rock layer, and the center of an anticline is the oldest rock layer.
