Today, Jackson read the introduction to Ch. 22 on foreign and domestic policies. We discussed some current events that related to yesterday's assignment.

Today, Jackson watched a video on the different types of Taxes and the crucial role they play in government spending.

We continue to discuss government budgeting and learn about monetary and fiscal policy.

We started to Read Ch. 21, defining key vocab, and answering questions from the text.

Today, Jackson read a debate on the media and its influence. We also discussed the changes that we have seen overtime and the use of algorithms to target distinct demographics.

We reviewed Ch. 19 and Jackson answered questions from the text. We also introduced Ch. 10, Mass Media in a Digital Age.

Andrew and I reviewed arguments for and against the protection of Hate Speech. Andrew inquired about the prevalence of hate groups and hate crimes, and we reviewed two available resources from the Southern Poverty Law Center (Hate Map) and the ADL (HEAT Map). We discussed the nuances of these resources. As we began our discussion related to Freedom of Press, we reviewed censorship and the impact of Prior Restraint. We discussed gag orders and sequestering in the context of legal proceedings.
