Andrew and I reviewed the fundamental components of Freedom of Speech as well and learned about a number of components associated with this amendment. We discussed Pure vs. Symbolic Speech, obscenity, defamation, slander, libel, commercial speech, fighting words, and seditious speech. We discussed how each of these considerations relate to the amendment.

We continue reading Ch. 19 and discussing the impact of public opinion on elections. We also will be looking at current events from multiple sources.

We continue discussing Interest Groups and work on the in-class Assignment on P. 736 examining current state issues.

Today we started reading Ch. 19 on Public Opinion and Interest Groups. Jackson completed an in-class assignment.

Andrew completed his citations and formatted his works cited section following MLA rules.

Andrew completed his conclusion and together we reviewed his complete draft. We adjusted his essay to fit MLA formatting and outlined a works cited section.

Andrew and I worked on outlining the introduction and conclusion paragraphs. We discussed strategies for moving through writers block, and how essays are like sequential short-answer questions. To reinforce this, we began working through the three content paragraphs of his paper.
