Maya and I read non-fiction material about the Pioneers. She was fascinated by the way the Pioneers churned butter. Yanuel and Maya went on a journey around the school as they churned butter by hand as the pioneers did.
We played Predicting Outcomes on the Western Frontier. Maya read short selections and determined what would likely happen based on the circumstances of the event.
Maya read another chapter in Henry and Mudge. As she read, she identified quotation marks and read the sentences in a way that would represent a character and read the other sentences to represent the narrator. Following reading, I wrote sentences on the board and she practiced the placement of the quotations marks.
