Kellan is reading with great expression. When he dictates his stories for me to type he is very expressive. That seems to be carrying over to his reading.
I read Hoot to Richard, and we discussed what was happening. We compared the detail in the book to what was in the movie. We used the cootie catcher to review literary elements in Bud, Not Buddy.
Richard used magnetic letters to practice his spelling words and words beginning with wr and kn. We played Roll and Read to review CVVC words. He read books with words he can read.
Today we began solving equations with trig functions inside them. This was a difficult lesson for Joshua. Not only does Joshua have to understand the algebra involved, he has to be careful to submit solutions that correspond to the domain given in the problem. This is tricky to think about. We strategized some steps to make sure that everything is considered. We did not finish the lesson because we need more practice.
Today PJ and I had 2 sessions. In the first session, we finished the concept we started yesterday involving equations with multiplication and division. PJ has been doing a great job setting up and solving these word problems. Then we moved into a Quiz review for the Quiz he will take tomorrow. We discussed how to write equations for given sentences like, "a fraction f multiplied by 4 equals 1/2." We also practiced recognizing equivalent expressions. PJ is ready for his quiz tomorrow.
