Unit 2A Test
Lesson Outline
Today Joshua worked on completing his test. He worked hard the whole period. At the end he said, "Here you go". I encouraged him to take some time to check his answers to make sure he felt good about them. I will grade the test this weekend and we will review it on Monday.

Properties
Lesson Outline
It was nice to have PJ back today. We worked on the white board and PJ did a great job participating. First, we reviewed the Commutative and Associative property. I gave him examples and reiterated these properties only work for addition and multiplication, not subtraction or division. Next, I showed PJ the distributive property. I wrote out several examples and had him walk me through the steps. Next, we did an activity that had all of the properties mixed up. This was good practice. At first, PJ was confusing associative and commutative. We reviewed the differences each time and PJ started to get the hang of it.

Speech Therapy Session
Lesson Outline
S: Noah was seen at the Batt School for treatment. He was eager to work with SLP for a majority of the session. He benefitted from frequent redirection during some activities presented. It is noted that Noah was sniffling and had a runny nose throughout session. O: Noah was first asked to follow a variety of 2-step related directions. He completed the activity with 78% accuracy. Noah then completed a quantitative concepts activity in which he discriminated many versus few in a field of 2 visual answer choices. He completed the activity with 73% accuracy. After, Noah was asked to label spatial concepts displayed in a picture scene shown. He completed the activity with 83% accuracy. Lastly, Noah answered mixed “wh” questions about a variety of picture scenes presented. He completed the activity with 90% accuracy. A: Increased redirection to task needed to complete 2-step directions, which is likely the cause for slight decrease in data. Increases displayed across all other POC goals. P: Continue with current POC.

5.1-5.3 Review
Lesson Outline
Andrew had a tough class today. The content we are learning is not easy, and today seemed to overwhelm him a little bit. At one point he just stared and said, "I gotta be honest, I have no clue what I'm doing." He was trying, but he seemed to forget some basic concepts, so I assume he was shutting down. I assured him that it's ok, we will take the time we need to make sure he understands. I re-explained what the question wanted, and I broke down the steps he needed to do. We referred to his graphic organizer to recall the meaning of some vocab words. We got through the review. Andrew seemed to feel a little better after the lesson. We will review one more day before I give him a test.

Review
Lesson Outline
Today Aiden and I did a Quiz prep review. Aiden took the lead going through the questions. I interjected only when necessary. He completed problems that required him to read a word problem and generate an expression to represent it. He reviewed combining like terms. We had a fruitful discussion regarding how we can use the associative and commutative property to combine terms that are alike. We reviewed the vocab words: constant, coefficient, and variable. On Monday and Tuesday, Aiden will complete his MAP testing. Wednesday we will complete the review and Thursday he will have a quiz.

Reflections
Lesson Outline
Today Carson and I discussed reflections. We drew a picture of a triangle and reflected it over a pencil. We discussed how the figure's angle measures and side lengths are congruent. We noticed though that the x-values became the opposite. Then we used the white board to draw a polygon. This time we reflected it over the x-axis and noticed all the y-values became opposite. We confirmed that x-axis reflections cause y's to become opposite, while y-axis reflections cause x's to become opposite. We practiced writing the rules to describe these transformations. Carson did a great job today!

Completing the Square
Lesson Outline
JPaul was significantly late this morning. We did not have time for a new lesson so we reviewed completing the square problems. I checked his homework, which he did well on. Then we practiced how to solve quadratic equations using the completing the square method. I asked JPaul how he feels about them. He said it's just a matter of memorizing the process (which I agreed with). Also, when there are fractions in the equation, it makes it one notch harder, but working slowly helps to ensure no erros are made.
