Read the passage pg 433 - 434 (paragraph 6) Take notes along the side of the passage to mark where vocabulary is used, any opinions, facts that are important, and any other notes. Have PJ discuss why he made certain notes and guide him with open ended questions for different paragraphs.
Letter recognition, sight words, CVC words practice, writing
Lesson Outline
Continue to work on the letter recognition for the vowels and n, m, u, and h. Use word cards to reinforce the letter sounds and practice saying the sounds and then connecting them to say the words. Complete a letter writing sheet to practice the correct writing of the letters we have been working on. Review the new sight words for the week as well as practicing others from previous weeks.
Introduce the vocabulary for the passage on pg 420. Preview what will be read from pages 418 - 419. Discuss what the different terms mean on pg 419 in relation to author's purpose and perspective in informational text. Give a prediction on what the title for the passage may mean will be written.
Review who the president is and where he/she lives and works. Watch a video about the inauguration that explains how it works on the day. Watch the clip showing the official swearing in for the oath of office and what is said.
Continue to work on the informative writing paper. Finish any body paragraphs and check that the details match what each one is about. Reread to ensure that the punctuation and capitalization follows the standards. Begin to discuss how the conclusion starts narrow and ends broad.
Introduce the sight words for the week: red, run, and ran. Practice the sort vowel sounds in each word and connect run with ran being a simple letter change. Continue to practice letter recognition with the vowels and with n, u, m, and h. Complete a short e vowel sort sheet for practice. Use the various pictures to reinforce all of the vowel sounds. Read "The Kite" from Days with Frog and Toad, pointing out the sight words and short vowel words.

After a conversation about the current state of his college applications and his plans for this weekend, we watched the Easy German video on the topic of being and introvert vs. an extrovert. We frequently interrupted the video to comment on the statements given by people in it. I will add the related exercises to our shared file, so that Joshua can start working on them.
Joshua is doing very well expressing himself orally and in writing.
After a brief conversation about general topics, we continued working with the vocabulary about our personalities. We added a few more sentences and discussed how these traits manifest themselves .
