Systems of Equations
Lesson Outline
I gave Carson a warm up on solving systems of equations. He was able to correctly graph the equations and reach a solution. Then I showed him how we could solve that same problem using the elimination method. We discussed how when equations are aligned, elimination is the easiest approach because it is least time consuming. We discussed how if adding or subtracting equations cancels out a variable, then we can solve for the other variable left. I gave Carson a few more examples to try so he could get the hang of it. At the end of class we had 10 minutes left to spare, so I asked him if he wanted to play ping pong. Again, I lost (twice). But I managed to score 4 points on him. LOL

Quiz
Lesson Outline
JPaul and I have not seen each other consistently lately, so we have not had a proper lesson/assessment schedule. I told JPaul we need to have a Quiz before we go on Winter Break, but I was reluctant to give it to him today since we had not reviewed. He said he felt ready. He suggested he take the Quiz today. And then we can review it and he can re-do the problems he misses. I agreed. So I highlighted important problems for him to try. He worked on them diligently. He got through 7 of them. The first 6 he did completely correct. The last one he struggled with. Tomorrow we will finish.

Quiz
Lesson Outline
Today Matthew finished his quiz on 1.4 and 1.5. He worked up until the last 15 minutes. I encouraged him to look over his work and make any corrections he saw fit. Then we graded it together. He did excellently! He got a 96%. We looked at the 2 problems he made errors on. He did the math correctly, but did not simplify completely. I showed him how to do the problems correctly and then had him correct his mistakes. At the end of class we played the Wordle game.
